Genetic vulnerability to cannabis-related psychosis
Marta Di Forti is Interviewed at SIRS
Epidemiological studies imply cannabis use is a risk factor for psychosis. Dr Marta Di Forti from Kings College London, talks about her research developing a case-control analysis to better understand why some cannabis users go on to develop psychosis, but many do not. She examined more specific risk factors such as frequency of cannabis use, potency of cannabis used, and carrying certain variants of the AKT1 gene, which regulates dopamine signaling.
