Targeting microglia activation in schizophrenia by minocycline treatment

The importance of the microglia has gained a lot of attention recently, as a novel therapeutic target in psychiatric disorders. Prof. Wolf discusses her group’s findings, which indicate that the tetracycline antibiotic minocycline affects specific microglial functions and thereby attenuates symptoms of schizophrenia in an animal model.
